Tired and overwhelmed? Here’s 5 easy lifestyle tips to get you back on track

There can be a lot going on in your busy life to make you tired and at times overwhelm can quickly take over, even if you’re normally relaxed and organised.

When the two are combined, it’s a double-whammy on your nervous system and ultimately your health.

In clinic, I see a lot of stressed clients feeling overwhelmed and fatigued with health issues such as low mood, burnout, weight gain, immune problems, hormone issues, insomnia, aches and pains and less than acceptable digestion.

Managing stress has many challenges.  And, let’s face it, there’s a lot happening around us that we have no control over.

The good news – there are many things in your world that you can control and change!

I’m passionate about helping clients take back control of their health and their life with amazing results.  It does take a little effort, but you will get there.

Here’s 5 ways to take back control of overwhelm and get your mojo back:

  1. Get moving – it’s hard to think about exercise when motivation is at an all time low, but this step is so important. Getting outside (even when its cold) will clear your mind, fill your lungs with invigorating fresh air and moving your body will make you feel alive!.  Using energy encourages your cells to make more energy, so go for a walk (daily) or take that yoga class – get moving before it’s too late!
  2. Make time for you – “all work and no play….. (you know the rest).  When was the last time you made fun or relaxation your highest priority?  Putting yourself first is not selfish – it’s selfless.  Make it a regular part of your week to fit in an activity that you love, something that stirs your creative juices and and makes you feel alive.
  3. Watch what you watch – too much TV (especially news) and being a constant slave to social media is a slippery slope to stress, anxiety, overwhelm and depression.  Find out what serves you best for your greater good. Is it socialising with friends, in person, the old fashioned way, reading a book, being creative, exercising and relaxing or is it being bombarded with death, destruction and fear on the news, and immersing yourself in the lives of others through social media and real-life TV?  You be the judge.
  4. Look at what you eat – seriously, there is so much information on healthy eating, you’d have to live in a cave in Tibet to not know the dangers of too much sugar and processed foods.  Food directly affects your energy, your health and your moods.  Do yourself a favour and stop eating rubbish.  Just stop it!
  5. Put sleep at the top of your to-do-list – when was the last time you had a good night’s sleep and woke refreshed, eager to jump out of bed and begin the day with enthusiasm?  I’m guessing it’s been a while.  Your body does most of its rest, digest and repair while you sleep.  You need 6-8 hours of good quality sleep to reboot your batteries.  If sleep is an issue, get some help and get some sleep.  Read more about sleep and insomnia here.
